Donna, a native Californian, grew up in Sun Valley. Her initial interest in art was sparked in the early 1960’s when her mother brought home a small set of oils for them to try together; she loved it and has been painting ever since. Donna’s innate talent shines through as she is basically self-taught. She enjoys attending art festivals and visiting with other artists, discussing techniques, media, inspiration and style. In addition to attending workshops through the years, she is currently attending classes with Jo Gayle Gerner, a well-known artist in the Antelope Valley.“Donna’s Home Gallery” was created by Donna in 1983 and sold many paintings through her home parties. She has also completed several commissioned paintings over the years, including portraits, which are displayed in many homes throughout the country. Since retiring from Lockheed-Martin in 2008, she's been able to more fully pursue her passion for painting. Donna’s medium of choice is primarily oils, but she also dabbles in water colors as well. She prefers realism over contemporary or impressionistic art, but she is not limited to any particular genre and paints what inspires her personally and what she feels others would enjoy.
She is a past member of the Burbank Art Association and is currently a member of the Santa Clarita Artists' Association, the Palmdale Playhouse Art Group and the Lakes and Valleys Art Guild. Over the years, Donna’s work has also been displayed and enjoyed at various festivals and exhibits. To see more of her artwork, please visit www.donnaboydstun.com.
